Odiorne Point Park Engagement

We actually met in high school! Marrying your high school sweetheart is not for everybody, but we knew in our hearts that this relationship was special, something that would last, even if others along the way told us that it wouldn’t. As teens and young adults, we went through a lot and faced some of the most fragile and intense times of life head-on together. We shaped our adult voice together which sort of defined our adult relationship. We never would have guessed that we’d be marrying the person who sat two seats away in sophomore chemistry class, but by some unlikely odds it turns out we were just right for each other.

I always had plans to pursue my PhD. Eventually I was going on interviews at schools all across the country, from Massachusetts to North Carolina to California and Washington. The reality of Buddy having to leave his job and uproot his life and move somewhere completely new started to settle in, but he sacrificed everything and put his own life on hold to stay by my side while I advanced my career. That’s when I knew he was the one.

The day of the proposal, we went to brunch at New Leaf restaurant in Fort Tryon Park. We were planning to visit the Cloisters museum that day. We had been looking at rings for a while, so I (Nicole) kind of saw it coming, but was still very surprised when he got down on one knee in the gardens of the park! Apparently Buddy was pretty nervous and was relieved when I said “yes”! We did go to the Cloisters after to look at the medieval art and tapestries but I think we were both too excited to fully appreciate it!

We love each other’s passion and drive, putting 110% into everything we do. But importantly, we balance each other, bringing out the best in one another.

Buddy twitches a lot during his sleep!

Enjoying the company of our friends and relatives, of course!

Earthy and neutral! Greenery is the trend I’m obsessed with right now.

Nate made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. We love his excitement; you can tell he’s really passionate about what he does and it got us super excited as well. Really funny guy, we had a lot of fun!
