Title | Our Story
- Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.
Roni – We met at work- although we worked in different departments, we saw one another during lunch runs and book clubs. We would also see one another at the gym, as we were both training and competing in triathlons at the time.
Keith – During 2012 Roni and I spoke here and there. We saw each other during a book club that I was running at the time and we occasionally did runs with co-workers during lunch. I offered to lend her a book on triathlon training and we would chat off and on. On a Friday in early November 2012 we went on a pub run in Plymouth with a bunch of co-workers and we sat at the same table after the run and chatted. Before you knew it we were the last two at the bar, and just before we left Roni looked at me and said “it seems like we have an awful lot in common”. I went about my weekend and kept thinking to myself “you dummy does she have to hit you over the head with a club? Ask her out!”. In any event, between travel for work and the holidays we didn’t really reconnect outside of work. Then one evening I was at the gym in a spin class and who comes in but Roni. We talked and eventually we began making a habit of going to class together going out for a drink and dinner after.
- When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?, etc.
Roni – When I first saw Keith, I remember thinking how blue his eyes were and having the strangest intuition that he was going to be in my life. At that time, I didn’t realize to what extent he would be in my life, but it wasn’t long before I realized I couldn’t live my life without him.
Keith – There was always something there between us. Always, for me it was so complete apparent when we began to date. It was unreal how much of a connection that we had, how natural, and effortless it was between us.
- Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)
Roni – It was the day we were closing on our house. After the closing and getting the key, Keith suggested we go to Dunkin’ Donuts. I was a little surprised he didn’t want to go straight to the house, but I figured he must be really hungry. When we got the house, the sellers were still there, so Keith suggested we sit in the car for a few minutes. I was all about sitting in the car for the minutes, thinking we were just admiring the house from the outside and soaking in the moment. When the sellers drove away, we walked up the front path. Before we went inside, Keith wanted to stop on the front porch. I was all about stopping on the front porch for a minute, thinking we were just admiring the house some more from the outside and soaking in the moment. We weren’t just admiring the house though; my best friend and love of my life Keith was getting down on one knee to ask for my hand in marriage. So on the first day of our life in our new home, we were already creating sweet memories. I can’t imagine a better way for Keith to have proposed than on the front porch of our new home.
Keith – I knew that we would marry VERY soon after we started dating. My connection to Roni was amazing and so very special. For the first year and a half we were seeing each other I lived at the beach, literally. We spent hours and hours walking the beach together talking of our dreams and a future together. I had a couple of problems though. First was how to find the perfect ring and then how and when to ask her to marry me. It had to be completely special and it just had to be right. Then in the fall of 2014 we found a house that was perfect for us, and decided to buy it together. It was only a month from the time that we made our offer to our close. The idea struck me when we made the offer that the perfect time and place to propose would be on the day of our close, on the beautiful farmer’s porch of our new house. I found the ring, called Roni’s parents and asked their permission for her hand, called the previous owners of the house and filled them in on my plans (they were supposed to be gone when we arrived after our closing), and got ready to surprise Roni. Everything worked almost to plan, but the previous owners were delayed in their closing and were still in the house when we arrived. I was sweating bullets! But they left shortly and we proceeded up to our new house, where I proposed before we entered. It was fantastic day that we will both remember and cherish for the rest of our lives.
- Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.
Roni – Everything. I love every single thing about Keith.
Keith – It is absolutely impossible to pick one thing that I love most. She is everything that I ever could have wanted in a partner.
- Besides getting married – what’s the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?
Roni- Just being able to share and celebrate our love for one another and of our family with wonderful people who care, love, and support us.
Keith – Looking forward to the reception celebration, seeing all of our family and friends celebrating with us, dancing and just carrying on.
- What inspired your décor or theme?
Roni – Keith and I both love the water, so we chose shades of blue and starfish. We also liked the idea that the five arms of the starfish elegantly represented the five lives joining together as a family.
- What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?
Keith – I wish that I had been more prepared and had the list of guests and family members, with addresses sooner.
