Samantha and Mike | Palace Theater Waterbury, CT

1) Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.

Sam: Mike and I met at a car show. Our car club had met at a Dunkin Donuts next to a Mobil in Milford and I first saw Mike standing by his xB when I walked out of the gas station. I totally creeped on him the entire day, and even snuck a picture of him cleaning his car so I could look at it when I got home (LOL). We didn’t talk much at the show, but I messaged him online the next day and it all went from there 🙂

Mike: Well it was at a car show that we both entered. I won second place.. and later she won my heart

boston_ma_wedding_photographer-boston_ma_wedding_photographer-0294boston_ma_wedding_photographer-0221boston_ma_wedding_photographer-0148boston_ma_wedding_photographer-00342) When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?, etc.

Sam: I started to feel the “connection” with Mike from the very beginning. We would constantly message or text each other and once we got “more serious” we spent as much time together as possible. It was like the only thing I needed in my life to be happy was Mike, and once I realized that… I knew he was the only one for me 🙂

Mike: She is one of the only girls that could really ever make me laugh. Still makes me laugh all the time till this day. It also helped that She had the same car hobby addiction and she loved all my stupid jokes. Lol  Don’t find too many out there like her

boston_ma_wedding_photographer-boston_ma_wedding_photographer-0334boston_ma_wedding_photographer-0417boston_ma_wedding_photographer-04213) Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)

Sam: Honestly, I was the typical girl hoping for a proposal at every holiday and special event that came along.   When Mike finally proposed (lol), he totally surprised me. We were at a Backstreet Boys concert in MA and were having a blast. When “I’ll Never Break Your Heart” was being performed in the second half of the show, Mike nudged my arm with a ring box (literally LOL) and said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. Doesn’t get much better than that 🙂

Mike: I knew from the very beginning that I would purpose to her one day. I waited for the perfect time and to me that was at our favorite bands concert. The “ backstreet Boys” I gave her the ring once “our never break your heart” was performed. I didn’t go down to one knee.. but in my defense someone spilled a Corona by my feet J

Sam: Mike is such a unique and special person.   I don’t think there’s anyone else in the world like him so it’s hard to choose just one thing. What I love most about Mike is how he’s so weird and goofy. Whether it’s his non-stop jokes, the random pet names, the pointless songs he makes up, the silly dancing in the kitchen… it’s all I want 🙂

Mike: I love that we both have weird and silly sayings and phrases that we say to each other that no one else would ever understand.. lol  and always are laughing no matter what.

Sam: Mike lint rollers his pillows before bed every night. WE HAVE THREE CATS – GIVE UP ALREADY!!!!! 🙂

Mike: If I say something to her that she clearly doesn’t do or didn’t happen. She always looks real serious and say “ no I don’t” or “no It didn’t” even if it’s the most  unheard of thing I could say. Lol  when I used to freestyle rap to her and I said something that rhymed just to rhyme words that obviously wasn’t true. She would say “ No I don’t” in the middle of it. I don’t know why I love it so much but I do. Lol

boston_ma_wedding_photographer-0974boston_ma_wedding_photographer-1059boston_ma_wedding_photographer-09966) Besides getting married – what’s the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?

Sam: Spending time with family and friends we haven’t seen in a while!!!

Mike: Well besides saying “I Do” to the woman of my dreams,  it would be Performing the song that I wrote for her.. even though I was super nervous to rap it with such a big audience!

Sam: I think the trend of non-traditional bouquets (example – paper or wood flowers, brooch bouquets, pearl or feather bouquets) is great because an unusual or unexpected bouquet adds a bit of extra personality to the bride’s “look”. Also with non-traditional bouquets you can save the bouquet exactly as it was on the wedding day and not worry about pressing or drying out flowers.

Mike: N/A

8) What inspired your décor or theme?

Sam:   We watched “The Great Gatsby” movie like three times in a row when it came out, and loved the time period / clothing / décor / art deco theme. When we chose the Palace Theater as our venue, Mike suggested Great Gatsby and we knew it would be PERFECT since it fit the vibe of the theater perfectly. We wanted a theme that people could get into and have a good time with, over and above just attending a wedding.

Mike: We both love the movie “The great Gatsby” and also love the 1920s look in general. We thought it would also be cool for our guests to be able to have some fun with what they were going to wear to the wedding. It was also like a big costume party and I love Halloween. 😉

9) What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?

Sam: N/A

Mike: Hmmm. Probably just how much money needed to be saved to pay for it all. WE did it all by ourselves with no help which made it tough but very rewarding. In the end it was all worth it though in my opinion so no complaints here.
