Omni Mount Washington Hotel Wedding

A gorgeous wedding showcased at Omni Mount Washington Hotel with stunning views, details galore, and one extremely happy couple!

Tell us how you first met? Who, what, when, where, and why?

Funny story, Ryan and I went to the same high school. At that time, he was a senior and I was a freshman and we did not interact at all! However, Ryan little brother, Tyler, was in my grade and by the time I was a senior in high school I had developed a huge crush on my friends older brother! Ryan and I both went to college at UNH and so did a couple of my high school friends including Tyler. Ryan would invite Tyler and his friends over to his apartment and I would tag along. The rest is history!

When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?, etc.

Sam: I knew that Ryan was “the one” when he got up on a couch and sang Celine Dion. I knew at that point that Ryan would always make me smile and was always down for a fun time!

Ryan: I knew Sam was the one when she would sneak away from parties to eat pizza with me on a fire escape at UNH. She is always up for anything.

Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)

It happened during quarantine in May 2020! Ryan and I had not spent an hour let alone a day apart from each other in almost two months.  I had been anticipating getting engaged during a trip we had planned in April of 2020, but due to COVID that dream was cut short! Ryan had me convinced that he didn’t even have a ring and it would be hard to get one due to businesses being closed. Little did I know he had had one for almost 4 months. One day Ryan said he needed to run errands at a shopping center about 5 minutes from our apartment. He was gone for almost two hours and somehow convinced me it was because there was a long line at the car wash. In reality he had driven to my parents house for their blessing.

Later that night, Ryan suggested we get take out from one of my favorite restaurants, Earls, and I was so pumped. We got our food, made some drinks and played cribbage all night while listening to our favorite songs from the last few years. Looking back, Ryan was absolutely acting weird, he was very nervous. Next thing I know Ryan was on his knee asking me to marry him! I was surprised, excited, freaking out and laughing all in one – must’ve looked a little weird. We stayed up another hour just saying how excited and happy we were!

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

Sam: I love Ryan’s drive. When he puts his mind to something, whether it be in work, our relationship, or new hobbies- he will do it at 110%. It is amazing and it inspires me to have that mindset as well. He’s cute too.

Ryan: I love that Sam is down to do any activity with me. Some examples are swimming with sharks, ice fishing, going snuba (snorkel scuba combo), and deep sea fishing. They aren’t her favorite things but I know she does these activities for me and I appreciate her so much for that!

If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.

Ryan loves talking on the phone with his Dad and friends. The funny part is he paces around the house, goes into every room, turns the lights quickly on and off, and then repeats all of that for about 10 more minutes. He has no idea that he does this.

When Sam is sick the only thing she wants to watch is Harry Potter, no exceptions.

Besides getting married – what’s the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?

We were SO excited to hit the dance floor. We had heard amazing things about our band, who had traveled from Philly, and they did not disappoint. We were also very excited for the passed apps!

What’s your favorite trend for weddings right now? 8) What inspired your décor or theme?

Mix and match table size and shape. Our amazing planner, Marjorie, helped give us ideas for this! Late night snacks were also awesome. Every wedding should try and do this if they can!

What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?

There are a lot of little tasks you need to complete right at the end of planning such as gifts for bridesmaids/groomsmen, letters for parents/grandparents, ensuring the timeline is perfect, and packing!
