1 – Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.
Leah -Do you want Dannys version or the real one? Lol By chance we were parked next to each other at country fest in August 2013. After working up the courage all day he finally came over and asked me 3questions, one immediately following the other.. Your Leah Putman right? Are you single? can I take you out? The rest is history
Danny-True story !
2- When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?, etc.
Danny-There was an immediate connection that I knew was more powerful than just having a crush on her. When we met the next day after CountryFest for our first date wearing the same color gray “Chuck Taylor” sneakers, I knew it was something special. I never believed in love at first sight, until I met Leah, and pretty sure I told her I loved her the first week of meeting her! She’s my partner in crime, best friend and soulmate!
Leah- It’s something hard to explain but the minute we locked eyes with those first words I felt less like I was getting to know him but instead remembering who he was. And that weirdness continued After our first date I had this undeniable feeling that I have missed him up until that moment even before I knew him, even though we just met..sounds crazy but it’s real . I know I sound like a physic or a psycho not to sure but it was pretty instant lol
3- Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)
Danny-I had been planning the engagement for months. Meeting my jeweler to create the perfect ring, asking her brothers for the blessing to marry their sister, and then taking her Mum to her father’s grave. You see, Leah’s dad passed away a couple years back and I needed his blessing before I could ask the big question. I brought her Mum to the grave and we both shared a happy cry while I asked for their daughter’s hand in marriage. With overwhelming joy and excitement she obliged! Once the blessings were confirmed, it was truly a blur on the day of engagement. I know I wanted to ask at Granite Links because we had our first date, 1st anniversary and it was our special place! After drinking a couple “nips” of Dr. McGillicuddy I finally had the nerve to propose and drop to a knee…Lucky for me she said YES!!!
4- Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.
Danny- Leah is astonishingly beautiful inside and out! She is fun-loving and caring, goes above and beyond to help people out…Truly my best friend! Sorry, I know that was more than one, but she has Soo many endearing qualities that are so perfect to me and I could go on and on!
Leah- He’s so damn charismatic, he exudes Charisma. To know him is to love him, and I’m lucky he picked me
5- If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.
Danny- Leah has dreams where she will wake up and think there’s spiders on the walls, bugs crawling in our bed or people standing in our kitchen! When she pops up in bed and just stares off I know she’s having her moment. We always have a good laugh when this happens, which believe it or not happens weekly
Leah-we have these funny voices we put on all the time. It used to be just between us and eventually it was all the time in front of anyone. We definitely drive people nuts with it.
6- Besides getting married – what’s the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?
Danny- Having all our family and friends in the same place to celebrate our big day! We are so lucky to have such amazing people in our lives and for them to come from all over the world to come and see us get married is touching!
Leah – Looking into the room filled with your favorite people And you see all your details the flowers the decor the lighting the candles it all looked so good I’ll never forget the feeling the energy coming from that room before we were announced as the Mr & Mrs.
7 – What’s your favorite trend for weddings right now?
For me as a groom, Moving away from the traditional Tuxedo and going to a suit with bow tie and suspenders look is flashy yet sharp! As for the wedding itself, I love the photo booth as it gives you a chance to be silly and goofy with all your loved ones!
Leah-There is so much going on right now that I’m obsessed with but had to draw the line somewhere. Photo booth✔️, late night Food Truck✔️-we hired Roxys Grilled cheese, Mixed styles for Bridesmaids✔️ – I let my girls all choose a different style one they felt their best in
8- What inspired your décor or theme?
I would have to say this was all my beautiful wife! Leah nailed everything from start to finish and our wedding was amazingly awesome….I am truly a lucky guy!
Leah– I found bridesmaid’s dresses and honestly that’s all that mattered to me. I was so obsessed with the rose gold sequins. Everything else just fell into place from the amber romantic up-lighting. The all white stunning flower arrangements my florist put together was everything! The guy’s suits???? Seriously I couldn’t get over how good looking our wedding party was.
9- What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?
Leah- I’m sure it’s the same for every bride… You spend months planning and going after every little detail… Spray painting with my sister until midnight the night before like two crazies. Even worse I found myself at Michaels the morning of my wedding. When I looked down and realized I was in Danny’s slippers I ran out and got home and a calm feeling came over when I finally realized it was my actually wedding day lol no joke.. Nothing else mattered anymore, I was marrying my love, I was soon to be surrounded all morning by my all-time favorite girlfriends in the world. I had family that flew all the way from England just for us. And of course We were about to have everyone who knows and feels our love and loves us for it come celebrate it in the most epic way. It’s true what they say about your wedding- it is without a doubt the best day of your life!
Danny-Honestly, everything works out in the end! The stress and aggravation comes with planning, but realizing that not everything will be perfect and all things will work themselves out is a huge key to a successful day! I thank Leah for everything and soo happy she kept me grounded when things went awry. I’m the luckiest guy in the world to have married my best friend and soulmate…I Luv You Leah McCabe?!!!
