Elayna & Matt | Rye, NY Wedding at Whitby Castle

A little about the Bride and Groom

1) Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.

We first met at an ice cream store called The Purple Monkey where we both worked during summers home from college. Matt was working behind the counter when I returned home from my summer Eurotrip. Matt asked the boss who I was and I asked my best friend who he was, and that was the summer it all began!

2) When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?, etc.

Matt- I knew she was the one as soon as she walked in. Without saying a word or saying hello it was truly love at first sight.

Elayna- After the first summer of meeting Matt I always knew he was the one. After working beside him and seeing how much fun, how hardworking, and how dedicated he was, I knew he was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

3) Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)

Elayna- I knew that the proposal was coming because of a few random moments picked up along the way. I thought Matt was going to propose on our 5 year anniversary but instead he took me by surprise and did it on a normal Friday evening down by the river where he first asked me to be his girlfriend. I was totally freaking out and couldn’t believe the moment was finally happening!

Matt- I knew that it was the right time to propose however, the ring wasn’t ready in time. The game plan was to propose in October 2014 at my Grandpa’s house where we always looked forward to escaping to. Since the ring wasn’t ready, I didn’t have the chance and knew that I would have to postpone. About a month later he passed away, so I knew the next opportunity would be sometime around our 5 year anniversary. I knew it would be too cliché, so being that I am very sporadic I decided that my Grandpa’s birthday, two days after picking up the ring was the perfect opportunity.

Elayna- I love how Matt does everything in his life with his full heart and dedication.

Matt- I love her drive and passion to help others.

Elayna- Matt is totally a big kid! He is the king of funny faces and silly noises, he has me laughing every day. My favorite thing he does is singing along in the car and preparing for his next karaoke song.

Matt- Elayna talks in her sleep. Whether it be completely irrelevant or actually shocking. She can carry on a full conversation without even knowing what she’s talking about.

We are both looking forward to sharing our special day with our closest family and friends who have been a part of our relationship throughout the years.

We love the wedding trend of doing the “first look.” We are both excited to see each other and have time to take it all in before the ceremony begins. We also love the trend of a sparkler send off J

Well when you decide to get married in a beautiful castle, we knew that we wanted our night to be magical. This is our “happily ever after!”

9) What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?

Honestly with all the wedding timelines on Pinterest we both felt very prepared throughout the entire process. I wish I knew how involved Matt was going to be throughout the whole process, he always stayed on top of everything and didn’t want to wait until the last minute!
