Christine + Jason’s Whitby Castle Wedding

Whitby Castle Wedding – Rye, NY | Our Story

1) Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.

We met in Dec of 2012, 10 days before Christmas, in Queens where we both lived.  He took me to a Thai restaurant and then we walked around and ended up at what we though was a fancy speakeasy, but turned out they were hosting a hardcore rap night! We couldn’t make conversation over the volume so went to a nearby beer garden and stayed out talking past 3am – probably the latest either of us has stayed out since then!

2) When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?, etc.

C: I came away from the first date knowing that I never wanted to break his heart.

J: I felt very comfortable with her from the moment we meet. I knew she was very special and someone I could have a lasting relationship with. Then she told me she was a vegetarian and I left right then and there. KIDDING …just kidding everybody.

3) Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)

C: I had no idea he was even thinking about it!  The rest of the night was a blur, with a big goofy smile on my face.

J: The proposal was a year in the making. Christine agreed to come to my nephews Christening in Greece. This gave me the best opportunity to ask. I asked my close friends and family about rings, how they proposed, and advice. By the time we got to Greece I think everyone knew but Christine. After the Christening we went to Santorini I had planned the day and the time. We would watch the sunset together and then I would ask. From the moment we got there I started second guessing the time and place. Every time we went somewhere I thought maybe I should do it here or that day.  I stuck to the plan. We watched the sunset at a nice spot unfortunately there were so many people I didn’t want a crowd around us.  The sun had disappeared and the horizon was full of light we began to explore.  We spotted a little restaurant on the second floor of a building that had an exterior stair case. So we walked up to the landing for the view. While she watched the sky I made small talk and told he a conversation I had with her Dad.  While I spoke I pulled out the ring box. She turned when I said, “that I had asked him if I could spend the rest of my life with her.” I began to propose but as she cried she waved her finger and reminded me to go down on one knee.  And the rest is history.

4) Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

C: He’s definitely a family guy, but he also has the same compassion for total strangers and it makes me want to be a better person every day.

J: She’s very loving and caring person. She always taking care of her friends and family.

5) If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.

C: Jason has perfected singing “Here Comes the Bride” in Peter Griffin’s voice from Family Guy to make me smile when I think of walking down the aisle nerves.

J: I like how she sings along with the songs on the radio
